hybridizing for smaller streps

Postby dale4streps » Thu Aug 07, 2008 6:19 pm

I just added three photos to the Photo Album. One shows a group of compact plants that are Fernwood's Minuet x Lemon Curd growing in a 2-1/2 inch square pot. Another photo is a close-up of the snow white flower with yellow color deep in the throat. The third photo is Fernwood's Minuet x Nerys. I love Nerys' throat markings and have been using it quite a bit. Imagine my surprise to see dilute pinkish markings on a snow white flower. So far the plant is compact.

For those who don't know, Lee Stradley's 'Fernwood's Minuet' is a compact size strep with S. lilliputana as a parent.

I have made it official: The GHA meeting at the next Gesneriad Society convention will be on hybridizing for compact size streps. This convention will be in Washington, D.C. June 30 - July 4, 2009. If you are hybridizing for small size, please mail me privately.
