I put a photo on the public Photo Album of my newest seedling. Note the bud count on this seedling of Streptocarpus 'Heartland's Singing Guppies' x S. 'Fernwood's Minuet'. This is the first blooming of this seedling.

Actually, the ancestry is this:

'Heartland's Singing Guppies' is my cross of (Strep 'Gloria' x S. dunnii)

'Fernwood's Minuet' is Lee Stradley's cross of (S. lilliputana x S. 'Little Gem')

So it has the combination of the giant S. dunnii and the tiny S. lilliputana in it.

Plus 'Gloria' is a pink sport of Dibley's floriferous hybrid 'Falling Stars', so I think that helped with bud count.

I put Sinningia 'White Sprite' on the same reservoir to show the current size of the strep seedling. This will not be a small hybrid, but I don't think it'll be huge.

I'm doing the Happy Hybridizer's Dance

Hi Dale,

I just took a look at the picture in the gallery. That is a small plant. Have you named it yet?

Larry, I named it 'Heartland's Glee Club' since it's mom is "singing guppies". I took a photo of it in full flower and entered the photo at the gesneriad convention in 2009. It got Best Photograph. See it at:

It's not small, after all.

Hi Dale,

Nice picture! Nice plant, even if it isn't small. Interesting how the flowers unfolded.
